Sophia Hulen Performs with OPCIC Honors Band

Five members of the Wittenberg University Symphonic Band performed with the 26th annual Ohio Private College Instrumental Conductors Association (OPCICA) Honors Concert Band on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014.

Hosted by Case Western Reserve University, this year's concert was held in historic Severance Hall, home of the Cleveland Orchestra. By nomination, the students joined peers from 15 other private institutions in Ohio and prepared five pieces in just three rehearsals.

West Lafayette, IN resident, Sophia Hulen, performed.

The five symphonic band members include Sophia Hulen, class of 2017 from West Lafayette, Ind., on the bassoon; Justin Krupa, class of 2017 from New Wilmington, Pa., on the tuba; Caitlin Lobl, class of 2016 from Springfield, Ohio, on the horn; Katrina Lyle, class of 2015 from Mt. Gilead, Ohio, on the flute; and Emily Rayens, class of 2016 from Lexington, Ky., on the flute and piccolo.
